Our early morning arrival back at the Tropicana after over 13 hours at the Monster Jam World Finals and a long ride back from the stadium knocked me out. I slept until 10am!
Once I woke up, Dad surprised me with something I've always wanted to do...order room service. I had Belgian Waffles and bacon, it was fantastic. They brought it right to the room while I was still laying in bed.
After breakfast, we went to the pook so I could do some swimming. The weather was great today, there wasn't a cloud in the sky and it wasn't as windy as the last couple of days. There weren't a lot of people in the pool, but there were two little girls in there that I hung with for awhile. After some time in the pool Dad and I got in the hot tub and relaxed a little before going back to the room.
Back in the room I got a shower and Dad thought I'd relax some more, but I was hungry again even though I had a big breakfast. So...back out we went to one of the food courts on the strip.
After my lunch, Dad gave me another surprise. We walked over to New York New York Hotel and I rode the roller coaster that runs around and through their building! I had been asking to do it the whole trip and finally got my chance! I loved it, the coaster cars are designed like New York City cabs and it goes upside down and does a loop. I sat beside some guy and talked to him the whole time, he thought I was funny.
Finally back in the hotel I kicked back and played my DSi a little while Dad packed everything up. He had a challenge because I won all those prizes at Circus Circus and had stuff from Monster Jam. Dad got everything in, but it took some work.
Once he finished, he took a 15 minute break and then we took a cab down to the Mirage Hotel. They have a volcano that erupts every hour starting at 7pm and we wanted to see it up close, we walked past the Mirage a few days earlier but missed the show. The Mirage is beautiful, it's like a jungle with water falls and lots of trees.
After a short wait, 7pm rolled around and the volcano started making all sorts of rumbling noises and Hawaiian type music started playing.
After the eruption we were hungry and Dad wanted to take me to a nicer restaurant so we walked over to the Forum Shops at Ceasar's Palace. We ended up eating at Joe's Seafood & Prime Steak, it was really fancy but the host grew up liking Monster Jam and I was wearing my Monster Jam shirt so he put us ahead of some people and gave us a seat on the atrium overlooking the Forum Shops. I had shrimp and roasted corn, very very good!
We wanted to look around and see the moving statues in the Forum, but the Treasure Island Pirate Show was getting ready to start. Back down to Treasure Island we went, walking along the Strip. Pushing through the crowds was hard, but we found a good spot only to discover that they had to cancel the show this evening.
That gave us a chance to head back to the Forum Shops though, so back up the Strip we went. We stopped into a crazy looking chocolate store, checked out the statues...but they weren't working tonight either and walked around a little. The Forum Shops are really cool, they have 3 story escalators that are curved like a spiral staircase. There are also tall statues and painted ceilings. I had a gelato from Tevi, an Italian restaurant. The host was from West Virginia and a Monster Jam fan, so I told him all about the World Finals.
We saw the Fall of Atlantis show for the second time then walked through Ceasar's Palace to the front of the hotel where we could catch a cab. At Ceasar's Palace I found a statue of Joe Lewis, so Dad took a picture of him knocking me out...the picture is a little blurry.
Back in the Tropicana we finished packing and checked out our great view of Vegas one last time. I have to get up at 4am to catch our flight, but I'm not tired and even as we're writing this I'm still up watching TV. I have too much energy to sleep. I love Las Vegas...I would even like to live here, it's so much fun (Dad said no.).
I'll be back in Maryland at 2pm Monday. This trip has been so fantastic! I loved it!
