Day Two

After a good nights sleep we started out today around 8am.  It was a beautiful morning with hardly anyone walking down Las Vegas Boulevard.  It sure looked different than it did last night!  We got to see a great view of New York New York, Cosmopolitan and some of the other hotels.

We took this picture because Dad's friend Carolyn collects Coke stuff.

We went to Denny's for breakfast so I could get some chocolate chip pancakes.

Look what they're putting bacon on now!  We're going to stop back for dessert before we go home!  Mmmm...bacon ice cream sundae!

We walked out of Denny's to catch the Monorail and we bumped into Batman!  This adds to my collection of photos with Mario and the Storm Troppers!

We went to the MGM Grand where they have the Lion habitat and walked down the long long maze that takes you to the Monorail where we waited in another long line!  It was worth it though, after a couple stops we had the Monorail all to ourselves so I ran around the tram car that we were in the whole ride down to the Saraha station.

We walked through the Saraha Hotel & Casino, it was really old.  The Monorail said it was the closest stop to the Circus Circus Hotel where we were heading, but it sure seemed like a long walk.  Even worse, Dad left my jacket in the hotel room and it was a cold morning to be walking all that distance!

Finally we made it to the Circus Circus which is designed for kids.  They had circus acts and a whole midway with carnival and arcade games.  We ended up spending three hours there!

The first thing we did was see a circus act.  Here you can see the circus center ring and the midway with all the games in the background.

So something like 32 years ago my Grammy & Pop brought my Dad here.  He tried to win a prize but couldn't.  I offered to try to win the prize for him, but he said that after 32 years they probably changed out the prizes, but he said that everything else looked the same including the carpet, the games and the circus workers!

The first thing we did was catch one of the circus acts.  Before the show they had a clown come out and play some steel drums and mess with the people in the audience.  Finally the main act came out, she climbed up ribbons of material and did stunts on them, it was pretty cool.

One of the first games I played was Star Darts where you throw a dart at a wall of stars, you only win if you hit the star right in the middle.  It was really really hard, but I wanted the prize...it was a "Angry Fish."  I tried a couple times and wanted to do more, but Dad made me try some others.  We did skee ball, water gun racing, basketball tosses, electronic jump rope games, toy horse racing, tic tac toe with softballs, whack a mole and a bunch of others.  I won a lot of prizes, mostly stuffed animals.  Someone gave us a plastic bag and before long it was full of stuffed animals.

We played tons of games, and everytime I walked past Star Darts I'd ask to try again.  I played that game over and over and kept missing...and it was $1.00 per dart!  Finally we went to the arcade where I played a lot of video games.

They had a crazy one there called Stinky Feet.  To play it you have to sit on a toilet and shoot water at a guy in a bathtub.  It was really funny and even Dad played a game of it.

After three hours and a lot of coins and dollars spent, we left to go home.  On the way out I passed Star Darts one more time and Dad gave in and let me play another time.

Guess what?  I did it this time!  I got the dart in the middle of the star and won my Angry Fish!!  I was so excited, I started jumping up and down and yelling!

By the time we left Circus Circus, I had a whole bag full of prize winnings!

From Circus Circus we went to Ceasars Palace to watch the Fall of Atlantis show.  It was so cool, they had statues that came to life and talked, there were fountains of water, bursts of fire and a scary ending!

By this point we were pretty hungry, so we stopped at Max Brenner's, it's a restaurant that puts chocolate into almost everything.  It smelled so good in there!  I got a pizza that came with a paint brush so you could paint the ingredients on it.  Dad took a little longer looking at the menu.

After we ate we had a dessert called Pure Sugar Churro Fondue.  It came with fresh churros covered in sugar and three kinds of hot fondue to dip them in; milk chocolate, chocolate caramel and chocolate raspberry...it was so good but even I had a hard time finishing it because they gave us so much!

We walked around the Forum Shops to check things out and bought Mom a gift (can't tell you what yet).  Then we went back into the main part of Ceasar's Palace where we saw this really cool ceiling way up high, Dad thought it was pretty amazing so we got creative with the camera and tried to take a picture of it and us.

From Ceasar's Palace we walked over to Paris Las Vegas and went into their replica of the Eiffel Tower.  We made it all the way to the top, it was a fast elevator ride!

From the top you could see everywhere!  Even some of the hotels looked small.  It was 550 feet high and you could see all around...even the mountains.  The first picture is the Paris Hotel and the others are Bellagio and Ceasar's Palace and the Vegas Strip.  If you look at the one that shows the MGM Grand, you'll see our hotel, the Tropicana right to the left of their sign.  It's the tall white hotel.

We spent some time looking out at the area and listening to the attendant give the history of the hotels in Vegas.  It was a really cool experience...I loved Paris Las Vegas, even the inside ceiling was painted to look like the sky!

By now, we were starting to get a little tired.  We had done a ton of walking so we took a cab back to the Tropicana and rested for about 30 minutes or so.

After a short break, we changed our clothes and headed back out.  This time to the Venetian Hotel where I got to see my favorite performance artists...Blue Man Group!  They have their own theater at the Venetian and we had tickets right in the fifth row.  The show was so much fun, they're crazy!  I was able to meet one of the Blue Men after the show, he put his blue fingerprint on my ticket as an autograph.

They play all kinds of things, even using pipes like drums.  They had a set there so I was able to practice on them.

Since we were close, we walked over the the new Palazzo for a few minutes before heading back to the Canal Shops at the Venetian.  The Palazzo was really fancy!

Before we had dinner we went for a gondolla ride through the middle of the Venetian!  The Venetian is designed like Venice, Italy.  They have a river running right through the middle of the hotel!  The ceiling is painted like the sky to make you feel like you're outdoors and it really makes you feel like you're in Venice.  It was a fun boat ride, the guy sang and made jokes the whole time.  We went from one end to another in the boat...I can't believe there is a river running in the middle of the hotel!

Finally we had dinner...it was like 10pm when we ate!  I had pizza for the second time in a row.

Once we were done, we walked through the rest of the Canal Shops and out to the street.  From there we checked out the Mirage where they have a volcano that actually erupts!

We started walking back up Las Vegas Boulevard but by the time we got to Harrah's I was getting tired.  So back to the Monorail to the MGM Grand and another long walk through there to get to the Tropicana.  We walked past more musicians, stores, casinos and lots and lots of people.

By the time we got back to the room I was beat.  I told Dad that I felt out hotel was like home, it feels like we've been here a week already and it's only our second day.  I really feel at home in Las Vegas...one day I want to live here, but Dad doesn't think that's a good idea.

I put on my pajamas and got out my prize winnings from the Circus Circus.  I'd like to finish this blog tonight, but I feel asleep right after this last picture was taken so Dad's wrapping it up.

Tomorrow morning...it's the highlight of the trip.  Double Down Day at the Monster Jam World Finals!  We're heading to the Imperial Palace Hotel at 10:30am to take the shuttle to Sam Boyd Stadium.  Check my blog later.  Good night!
